Janitor/Facilities Maintenance Technician

Department: Front Office
Location: Santa Barbara, CA

Work Location: Candidates will have to reside in the Santa Barbara, CA area. At this time, we are not seeking candidates that live outside of the designated work location.

Residency Status: ALL CANDIDATES MUST BE A U.S. CITIZEN

Job Type: Full-time

Pay Rate: $23.00 per hour

Work Hours: Between 35 – 40 hours per week

Job Description:

Our company is seeking a Janitor/Facilities Maintenance Technician professional to join our team. The optimal team member is someone who prides themselves in ensuring that the customers’ facilities are clean, safe, and well-maintained. We are looking for someone who possess a strong work ethic, attention to detail, and the ability to perform various maintenance tasks efficiently.

Required Qualifications:

High School Diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Work Experience:

  • 3+ years of janitorial experience.
  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Candidate Must Reside in the Santa Barbara, CA area.
  • Knowledge of safety and sanitation regulations regarding proper storing of chemicals in a food environment, proper cleaning of janitorial closet, safe lifting and transporting procedures, and ability to train others in this area.
  • Exhibits organizational skills sufficient to ensure timely completion of tasks.
  • Communication skills are sufficient to direct the work of others and interact successfully within a large staff, including part time student employees.
  • Ability to understand, read and write English for the purpose of reading and creating special projects lists.

Responsibilities

Service is twice a week:

  • Carpets shall be free of dirt, dust, debris, and spots and stains.
  • Hard surfaced floors shall appear polished and be free of dirt, dust, debris, spots and stains.
  • All surfaces shall be free of dirt, dust, cobwebs, spots, and stains, including, but not limited to:*
  • *Furniture.
  • *File Cabinets.
  • *Window and other exposed ledges.
  • *Computer equipment, including areas around and behind display monitors and all office equipment.
  • Front door glass shall appear free of dust, dirt, streaks, smudges, and spots both inside and out.
  • Display cases and all counter tops, tabletops shall appear clean and polished, free from dust, smudges, and debris.
  • Doors, door handles, and door casings shall be free of handprints, dirt, and other marks.
  • Waste Containers shall be free of odors. Liners shall be in place and appear free of liquids, stains, or debris.
  • Chairs shall appear to be free of dust, debris, and stains.
  • Vents on doors shall appear clean and free of dust and cobwebs.
  • All wastebaskets, chairs, tables, and similar objects shall be returned to the location where they were found after cleaning.

Physical Setting:

Two buildings are three minutes walking distance from one building to the 2nd building. The District Office building is approximately 3913 Square feet and includes (12) offices and/or Desk spaces, (3) bathrooms, (1) break room, (1) conference room, (1) copier room and (1) main lobby.

EXLUDES LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICE.

The Archaeology /Heritage building is approximately 1261 Square feet with (4) offices and/or Desk spaces, (2) bathrooms, (1) shower, (1) break room/kitchen area.

Work Schedule:

  • Work shall be performed between the hours of 5pm to 9pm.
  • Archeology Building: Work may begin at 4 or 3 pm
  • District Office: May begin at anytime after 3:00 pm
